A fabulous new Food Hall has now opened at Webbs unveiling the first completed stage in the £5m redevelopment of the award-winning garden centre.
The roof is in place and the glazing being installed on the extra 64,000sq ft of new covered retail space - trebling the existing area and making Webbs the largest independent garden centre in the UK.
Customers can now visit the large new Food Hall - specialising in local produce from cheese to cakes - and the newly-styled Restaurant. A wonderful new aquatic and pet centre and wildlife gardening department will open to customers in mid summer alongside traditional favourites, indoor and outdoor plants, landscape and lifestyle departments.
The expansion will allow Webbs to increase facilities for customers such as improving the till facilities and trading space for successful departments as well as introducing new product ranges.
Executive Chairman Ed Webb said: "The Food Hall is already proving a very popular addition with our customers. We are working with local and regional growers and suppliers, for example of fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses and wines, which form the core of the department. A marvellous new serving counter has also been added in the restaurant, offering customers a stylish area to enjoy their refreshments."
Mr Webb added: "We already have over a million visitors a year and the new area will mean we can offer our customers an even wider choice of products in inspirational and comfortable surroundings. As always we will continue to put high standards of customer service and expertise at the core of everything we do."
"We passionately believe that continued investment in the Garden Centre at Wychbold will enable us to reward our loyal customers with a truly unique shopping experience and introduce a whole new generation of customers to Webbs for years to come."
Webbs is the biggest garden centre in the Midlands and a major local employer. It was officially named the best garden centre in the Midlands by judges from The Garden Centre Association (GCA), the organisation representing the best garden retailers in Britain.
Webbs is a family business success story going back to the middle of the nineteenth century when Edward Webb was a successful agricultural seeds merchant. Webbs' seeds became a household name and Webbs were appointed seeds men to every monarch in succession from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II. Ed Webb is the great, great, great grandson of Edward Webb who began the business.
